Chelsea Handler Sures Tells a Lot of Lies

Image
Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me by Chelsea's Family, Friends, and Other Victims was quite the fun read.  I've truly enjoyed everything Handler has written and figured that this wouldn't be anything different.  However, I didn't find it quite as entertaining as her other books.  While this one isn't necessarily written by Handler, it completely centers on her and the "evil" things she does to those she cares about.  I think some of the funniest episodes are those written by Brad Wollack, Johnny Kansas, and Stephanie Stehling.  I mean, some of the things that Handler has done to these people are absolutely atrocious.  It really makes you question things; like how and why the victims stick around (money and all the celebrity perks), how she even has friends (money and all the celebrity perks), and how the hell she comes up with some of the things she does.  I mean, some of it is pure genius.  If you haven't read any of Handler's other books, this w...

Teaser Tuesday...Chelsea Handler is a Big Liar!

So I've had Chelsea's Family, Friends, and other Victims  Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me since it came out months and months ago.  It's been sitting in a pile of books next to my mirror...because I'm lacking enough bookshelf space.  Does that say something about me?  Ha.  Anyway, I am finally picking it up to read it!  Joyous occassion indeed!  Without further ado...today's teaser: "You see, Chelsea has tricked the world into believing that she is technologically retarded, but that's a lie.  What I and several other victims have discovered is that she likes to sneak into people's work spaces, get on their computer without their knowledge, and wreak havoc" (Eva Magdalenski 197). I've loved everything written by Handler.  She's hilarious, rude, and absolutely obnoxious.  I can't wait to find out the different antics she's pulled on those closest to her.  Happy reading!

Teaser Tuesday...Gettin' Bossy

This week's teaser comes from a book that I've been wanting to read since it first came out, Tina Fey's Bossypants .  There are multiple reasons for this desire to read her book:  she's hilarious...and I really like the cover ;) "The stylists like to figure out a few looks before hair and makeup begins, so you will try on twenty or thirty things.  Somebody will put up a makeshift wall by holding a full-length mirror next to an open loft window, and you will strip down naked.  You must not look in the mirror at your doughy legs and flat feet, for today is about dreams and illusions, and unfiltered natural light is the enemy of dreams" (148). Oh my!  How embarrassing!  This sounds like such a funny read.
