Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and it's a great way to show what you're loving in list form.  The topic changes every week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:  Top Ten Books On Your Spring TBR .  Like in the past, my TBR is very fluid and I never really stick to what is on my tentative plan.  In addition, I have been on a kick of ONLY reading books that I currently own...no trips to the library have occurred since January 1st!  I've stuck to this resolution and plan to continue for at least another couple months.  That being said, my TBR for Spring comes from books already in my possession and it will more than likely coincide with the theme of my "bookclub's" next reading challenge (at least the one that currently has the most votes in our FB poll): Reading from A-Z.  Here's what I have: A The Queen of the Big Time   by Adriana Trigiani B The ...

Top Ten Tuesday: Those That Linger

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and it's a great way to share what you're loving in list form.  The topic changes ever week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:  Top Ten Books That Have Been On My TBR The Longest .  I'm ashamed to admit that my TBR is ridiculously out of control.  Like, hide my head in the sand and ignore it out of control.  I have gone through and deleted books recently, but I think that the number is so daunting that I'll never be able to cull it the way it needs to be.   Omega Minor by Paul Verhaeghen...I even own this book and it's still been on my TBR for 10 years! Buddenbrooks: The Decline of a Family by Thomas Mann The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie (own...) How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe's Poorest Nation Created Our World and Everything in It by Arthur Herman (own...)    H...

Top Ten Tuesday: Goals Shmoals

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl and it's a great way to share what you're loving in list form.  The topic changes every week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:  Top Ten Bookish Goals/Resolutions for 2018 .  Ironically, I just did a goals post for Bout of Books last week , so I'll be using some of those same goals in this post.  I might also sneak a few new ones in there :) Here's what's brewing in my book/blog world for the year: Read ONLY books that I currently own.  I have way too many books that have resided on my OVERFLOWING bookshelves and they've been there for years.  Seriously, years!  I have made a resolution to read from those books over the next few months in an effort to purge some books from my home and make a dent in the ever shrinking and fully cluttered spare bedroom... Start reviewing books again.  I was on a really good kick for a few years, ...

Top Ten Tuesday: I Meant to Read That!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish (until next week when Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl will take over) and it's a great way to share what you're loving in list form.  The topic changes every week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:  Top Ten Books I Meant to Read in 2017 but Didn't Get To .  Oy Vey!  There are always a TON of books I always mean to get to throughout the year and just never find the time or get distracted by other books because...shiny!  Regardless, here are a few that were totally on my TBR for 2017...and should probably be the first I get through in 2018: The Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian The Martian by Andy Weir Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward The Shoemaker's Wife Adriana Trigiani The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys Shame by Salman Rushdie The...

Bout of Books 21 Goals

Image
The start of Bout of Books 21 (wow!) is just around the corner and I'm getting all geared up for the fun :)  My work week will be pretty busy with the start of the term and all the students who will (inevitably) have issues, but I should be able to squeeze some much needed reading time into my evenings.  Here's what's on my radar for the week: The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon:  I have just started this book and am loving it, but it's massive and I don't think I'll be able to finish it over the weekend. Knitting by Anne Bartlett:  I have started this book as well, and it's significantly shorter than Zafon's, so I may have it finished before Monday. Possible reads:  The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, The Diviners by Libba Bray, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, Shame by Salman Rushdie I'm also on a kick of reading ONLY books I already own (too many that I've had for EONS and have never read) AND that fit into the categ...

Top Ten Tuesday: Winter TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and it's a great way to share what you're loving in list form.  The topic changes every week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:  Top Ten Books On Your Winter TBR .  Hot Dog!  I always have so many books I want to get to in the near future, but my list is so fluid that it's never something I stick to.  Regardless, these are a few books that are on my radar that I'd like to get under my "Read" banner in the next couple months. White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi A nice, creepy sounding book for these drizzly, dark days :)   The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander Such a timely read and very important.   The Rescuers by Margery Sharp Love this movie. Peter Pan by JM Barrie It's been on my TBR for ages. Senseless Confidential by Martin Bannon Hate the co...

Top Ten Tuesday: Fall TBR

Image
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and it's a way to share what you're loving in list form.  The topic changes every week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:   Ten Books On My Fall TBR .  Since I'm continually adding to my (daunting) TBR and I never really map out what I'll be reading, this will be an evolving/changeable list of ones I'd like to get read in the very near future and will include both published and soon-to-be published options :) In no particular order: Hardcore Twenty-Four by Janet Evanovich (Publication: November 21) While I'm getting a little weary of Stephanie Plum's antics, I can't abandon this series... Year One by Nora Roberts (Publication: December 5) I know...I know.  Every single book is the same formula, but when you want something mindless, easy, and quick, Nora is your girl! Renegades by Marissa Meyer (Publication: November 7) I just love ...

Top Ten Tuesday: Recent TBR Additions

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and it's a way to share what you're loving in list form. The topic changes every week, so there is always something new to discover! This week's topic is:  Top Ten Books That Have Recently Been Added To My TBR .  I am horrible at adding books, willy nilly, to my TBR.  It's ridiculously (and embarrassingly) massive, but I can't seem to bring myself to stop!  People need to just quit writing books I want to read....  Regardless, here are the last ten I added: The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald Passenger (Passenger 1)  by Alexandra Bracken The Siren by Kiera Cass This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp All Stories Are Love Stories: A Novel by Elizabeth Percer Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy by John le Carre The Improbability of Love by Hannah Rothschild Maplecroft (The Borden Dispatches 1) by Cherie Priest The Sacred...
